We love sharing our shows with people from all around the world. Since 2018 we have run 6 international schools workshop tours both in partnership (Auckland Arts Festival, Drama Arts Productions, Dulwich College International, Singapore Rep) and independently, in addition to 3 international artist development residencies.

We have strong education networks around the world and so can look to build independent workshop tours, align them with our touring activity, or work in partnership to deliver this activity.

Schools and Colleges

We run workshops for students in secondary schools, colleges and universities around the world, working alongside various drama and theatre curricula. We are regularly studied by students undertaking iGCSE Drama and the International Baccalaureate in Theatre.

Our workshops serve as an introduction to Gecko’s style of physical theatre and take students through the company’s methods for devising and creating movement. Sessions can also be adapted to requests from schools, and in the past we have tailor made sessions to fit an exam brief/stimulus. Please do let us know if there is anything specific you would like your workshop to cover.

We’re delighted to be working with the International Schools Theatre Association in autumn 2019 to run a series of tasters workshops for students and teachers from across the globe at their annual London conferences.

Professional Development

In addition we have a very strong strand of professional development work which includes teacher training sessions and workshops or residencies for both experienced and aspiring performers.

These sessions serve as an introduction to Gecko’s devising techniques and methods for creating movement for performance, as well as giving teachers an insight into how to teach these in a classroom setting.

Past international collaborations include: Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, NCLS in Jeju, Oulu Dance Festival in Finland, Dulwich College International, Drama Arts Productions, Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, Xie Xin Dance Company and Singapore Repertory Theatre.

I learnt how to take care of everyone, how to trust and believe myself. Every decision you make, not only just about dance, also life!

I’m so happy with how much it gave to me. I really learned a lot about breathing and being bold and honest.
