Schools & Teachers
As a listed practitioner on various GCSE and A-Level syllabuses, we run devising workshops in schools and colleges and can also provide teacher training sessions.
Gecko’s education and outreach is a key area of the company’s work. Our workshops are led by our highly experienced company members who, as well as workshop practitioners, also have the experience of being devising performers in our touring productions. We run these workshops in schools (for students in Year 9 upwards), colleges and universities working alongside various national drama curriculums.
Gecko is currently listed as a prescribed practitioner on the AQA specification for AS and A-Level Drama & Theatre, have been approached by OCR to create a resource pack for their new AS and A-Level Theatre specification, and are regularly studied by students across the world undertaking the International Baccalaureate in Theatre.
The workshops we run in schools with students can be adapted according to the school’s requests. We can tailor sessions to fit an exam brief/stimulus, but also provide workshops that serve as a general introduction to physical theatre and Gecko’s devising process.
Please do let us know if there is anything specific you would like your workshop to cover.
Our workshop offer is also available internationally - check out our International page and get in touch for more information.

The sessions generally include preparatory exercises, group discussions, and techniques that teachers can use in their own practice.
