Maryam Noorhimli

Trainee Practitioner

Maryam is a Singaporean theatremaker and facilitator who moved to the UK in 2019 to learn more about diverse community arts practices and the children's theatre scene here. This has allowed her to work with the likes of Good Chance Theatre, become an Assistant Director in the Waterperry Opera Festival (Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes) and facilitate many joyful theatre workshops for children, students and displaced families. She first started working with Gecko in 2024, where she served as Local Facilitator for From Here On and has since delivered numerous school workshops through their distinct style.

She is currently working as a Storybuilder at Discover Children's Story Centre, where she prioritises promoting wonderment, kinship and movement through her shows. As an Acting & Community Theatre graduate from the East 15 Acting School, a lot of her work since graduation has also been focused on serving migrant and refugee communities in the South Essex region with Unpuzzled Theatre Company. Through them, she was able to act as Associate Director and direct The Rocket, collaborating with Vanhulle Dance Theatre. Her recent performance credits include 5 Little Ducks (Spinning Wheel Theatre) and Rajiv's Starry Feelings by Niall Moorjani.

She loves to connect with people through dance and breaking so please, please contact her for a jam.
