The Chemical Brothers

Collaborating with directors Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall (@smithandlyall), Amit Lahav was invited to work with multi-award winning, ground-breaking duo The Chemical Brothers on imagery for their 2018/19 world tours, and their Glastonbury 2019 set.

Amit played with visuals imagined by Smith and Lyall to create five distinct worlds and also supported the casting of the project.

Electronic: From Kraftwerk to The Chemical Brothers

In 2020 some of the work Amit has collaborated on with Smith & Lyall for The Chemical Brothers live sets as featured in the Design Museum's exhibition - ‘Electronic: From Kraftwerk to The Chemical Brothers’. The Design Museum exhibition transports you to the heart of the experience of being in a club, with live visuals from the multi-award winning music duo's song Got To Keep On, featuring movement and choreography by Amit.

“The visuals for Got To Keep On were initially inspired by fashion catwalk shows and 80’s New York Ballroom culture. This movement concept was combined with geometrically-themed costumes, initially visualized in 3D software. This CG character design approach was then deliberately transformed by using real performers and custom-made costumes. We creatively collaborated with the amazing Amit Lahav of Gecko Theatre who choreographed the piece. The dancers were shot in a studio using a combination of large-scale film lighting and theatrical strobe lighting. The varying light effects play off the form of the performers in costume to create a striking high-fashion look.”
